* Kansas City now offers you Village West for sports, shopping, and eating including Cabela's (hunting, fishing, outdoor gear), the Kansas Speedway (NASCAR: July & Oct), KC T-Bones (Northern League baseball; May-Sept), and world class dining, shopping, and entertainment at the Legends. Phase I of the Legends opened November 2005. * Bonner Springs is just a few miles west of the racetrack with a Holiday Inn Express and restaurants at I-70 and K-7. * Shawnee - south on I-435 at Midland Drive - is great if you are bringing your bikes or want a lake (Shawnee Mission Park) setting, coming to Village West as a nearby day trip. * Lansing - Leavenworth are cities several miles north of the Village West area on K7. Schlitterbahn Vacation Village Water Resort | Twitter updates just east of VILLAGE WEST on State Avenue where the Wyandotte County Fairgrounds once were. The world-class water resort is still under construction, but opened the waterpark July 15-Sept 20, 2009. Continuing phase 1, they next plan to open several lodging components, initial shops, and restaurants along the Riverwalk. The fully integrated Schlitterbahn Vacation Village Water Resort, with tubing slides, chutes, rivers, beaches, 750,000 sq ft of retail, and over 1500 keys of lodging, is scheduled to open in the summer of 2011.

On the western border of Missouri, Kansas City, MO faces west toward the eastern border of Kansas. Kansas City, MO and Kansas City, KS are separated from each other for a short distance, by the Kaw (Kansas) River, where it empties into the Missouri River. The Missouri separates the two states to the north. To the south there mostly is no natural division between the two states. Interstate 70 goes east-west and I-35 goes northeast-southwest through both Kansas City MO and Kansas City KS.
